MY STORY
I am from the beautiful Pacific Northwest in the U.S., and since 2023, I have been living in a charming seaside town in northern Germany — a former fishing port that is now a popular summer holiday destination on the Baltic Sea.
Before proofreading, I worked for over 5 years as an auditor and administrative specialist for an expedition cruise line operating worldwide. My role involved ensuring that in-house procedures and international regulations concerning personnel and environmental safety were followed. Clear written communication, maintaining accurate procedure manuals, attentive listening, and meticulous recordkeeping were all key aspects of the job.
Prior to that, I spent over 11 years in maritime logistics, where I was responsible for managing the offloading of large quantities of frozen seafood from cargo ships. I carefully followed complex and detailed customer instructions to ensure the correct loading of trucks, export containers, and railcars for worldwide delivery.
Going with the flow of shipping and logistics (not!), I also have a BFA in Interior Architecture with furniture design and metal fabrication experience. This will come in handy for any construction and building transcripts.
So, why transcript proofreading?
Proofreading transcripts aligns with my strengths: an obsessive attention to detail, a love of language, and a respect for others. Those going through the legal system deserve to have their voices recorded accurately. I greatly admire what court reporters do and the essential role you play in this process. I approach every transcript with the utmost care and confidentiality, because I know it matters.
